First Grade

First graders at Fennville Elementary are full of energy and curiosity, bringing life and laughter to the school each day. With backpacks nearly as big as they are and sneakers ready to go, they head into their classrooms ready to learn and explore. One moment they’re coloring pictures, the next they’re imagining they’re flying through space or picking apples in an orchard.

Each child comes with their own background and story, shaped by Fennville’s strong community and farming traditions. Together, they make the classroom a fun and colorful place to be. Every small win—like solving a math problem or making a new friend—is a big deal, celebrated with smiles and excitement. Thanks to caring teachers who support and guide them, these young learners are growing in more ways than one—learning not only the basics like reading and math, but also how to be kind, work together, and be proud of their community.
